Program Director- Dr. Sylvain Guimond
Sylvain Guimond is a doctor in Osteopathic Medicine. Alum of McGill University, he devoted his studies to Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics. He has also studied at several other Universities world-wide, including the Holten Institute of Norway where he studied Medical Exercise Therapy, and the College d’Étude de la Statique de Marseilles in France, specializing in Posturology
Dr. Guimond is a pioneer in the therapy of Neuromuscular Disorder and Posture Deviations. He is the founder of Biotonix, a company offering advanced technology in the evaluation of biomechanics. Dr. Guimond is the inventor of a unique system of biomechanical analysis, using markers and digital photographs to analyze a patient’s posture and movement. His Biotonix system is used in over 25 different countries by doctors, researchers, professional trainers, and clinicians.
Dr. Guimond has had the opportunity to evaluate and treat over 1000 athletes and high profile clientele. Among his more renowned clients and friends are Tiger Woods, Arnold Schwarzenegger, President Bill Clinton, Brad Pitt, Gerard Butler, Mario Lemieux, John Smoltz, Greg Norman, Dr. Patch Adams, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Keith Lockart, and many more. He has also tested several professional athletic teams in the NHL and NBA, as well as other international teams. Among those teams are the Atlanta Braves, Phoenix Suns, Montreal Canadians, and New York Rangers.
Dr. Guimond has made several television appearances for his work, and has been mentioned in several newspapers and science articles. In 1996, he was invited to lecture at the Olympic Games of Atlanta. His work and studies have been published in a variety of publications.
Dr. Guimond and Biotonix have received two awards from the American Medical Review. The company owns 5 international patents, some of which are borrowed by filmmakers in Hollywood. As the president of Biotonix, Dr. Guimond has guided his company through a growth of over 300% in less than 3 years.
Throughout his years of study, Dr. Guimond has taken part in several research studies with scientists of international reputation. He has participated in studies ranging from medicine and biomechanics, to posture and sports performance. He has tested the effectiveness of exercise as treatment for disease. He has created systems of biomechanical evaluation for a wide range of medical patients, including professional athletes, golfers, skiers, pregnant women and a wide variety of other groups.
Dr. Guimond has also been asked to speak at several medical conferences and lectures. He is an active member and chairman of several medical societies and groups. Some of them include the Foundation for Retired Professional and Olympic Athletes, the American College of Sports Medicine and Exercise Physiology, as well as other groups involved in athletics, medicine, posture, back pain, sports injury, osteopathic medicine, and psychotherapy.
Dr. Guimond shares his knowledge of biomechanics with students nation-wide. He is on the faculty of several Universities in the United States and Canada. He also trains and teaches his system to doctors and professionals.
Dr. Guimond is now currently developing the Psychobiomechanics and Posture Therapy Program at the San Diego University for Integrative Studies. Classes will be taught by Dr. Guimond's highly skilled staff of doctors and researchers.
